The significance of natural and human resources of the Philippines  to our
Nation

Our natural resources are truly important to us.  We have fertile lands, seas, mountains, and forests which provide us with all our necessities, be they agricultural, industrial, economic, or others.  Though some countries are rich in natural resources, they are still poor because they lack the effective combination of a country’s natural and human resources from where it gains its strength.

Taking pride of our origin

The first Filipino Homo Sapien was found in Tabon Cave.  The Negritos were among the first people to came and live in the country.  The Indonesians came to us about 5000-6000 years ago followed by the Malay 600 years ago.  With the Malays, the first Filipino community was born.

What customs of the early Filipinos are still practiced at present? Are they still in keeping with modern times?

We Filipinos are still hospitable, courteous (using po and opo), have close family ties, and we still value self importance or self dignity (dangal).
But we also possess many bad habits like being extravagant during fiestas, fond of gambling like lotto and jueteng, bahala na attitude, ningas cogon, fond of euphemisms or pakikisama or padrino system, talangka mentality.
Even though we are living in modern times, we still practice these attitudes that prevents us from development.
